Union Rescue Mission Taking A Stand Against Drugs

The Union Rescue Mission is taking a stance against heroin and drugs in our community. Union Rescue Mission Executive Director Pastor David Ziler says they are still serving their residents meals but their dining room is temporarily closed to the public. Ziler says drug dealers were coming to the Mission under the guise that they needed help and then would attempt to sell drugs at the Mission. “We had drug dealers coming in to prey on the people who are trying get help and to seek help . They came in in front of our kids, they created disturbances and we are taking a stand against that. We are taking a stand against drug dealers who are preying on the people who are hurting and seeking help. We are not going to make sure it is a safe environment for families to eat a hot meal to get a warm bed and we are not going to allow the drug dealers to rule our Mission, we are not going to allow drug dealers to rule our area and we are going to start taking Cumberland back even if it just starts with our little block.” He says their main goal is to provide a safe place for those in need who are working on recovery or need a warm place to stay and feel safe. He says they are working with law enforcement to identify the drug dealers and make them aware they are not welcome at the Mission. Ziler says they want to be a beacon in the area in the fight against drugs. He says donations are critical for the Mission and he encourages the community and local churches to continue to support the Union Rescue Mission. He says the generous people in our community help provide hope for those in need.
