Starting next Wednesday December 20th. UPMC will require face masks to be worn at all locations including the hospitals, outpatient facilities and medical offices. This is because of the rising number in cases of Covid, the flu and other respiratory viruses.
UPMC Western Maryland is requiring masks for staff, patients and visitors starting Wednesday.
A statement from UPMC officials:
“UPMC is seeing an increase in cases of respiratory viruses, including Covid, influenza and RSV. To protect the health and safety of our employees, patients and visitors, beginning Wednesday, Dec. 20 everyone in our health care facilities will wear effective masks which reduce transmission of respiratory viruses in health care settings. We will continue to monitor the number of cases in our communities and adjust our protocols as the situation evolves.”
