One Man Is Killed And A Woman Is Hospitalized Following Crash

One man is dead and a woman is hospitalized following a crash in Hampshire County . According to the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office on August 21st at about 5:11pm 911 received a report of a two vehicle crash along Bloomery Pike about ½ mile north of the Slanesville Store. Two vehicles were involved in a head on collision and one vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived on the scene. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles was identified as 53 year old Terry Weasenforth of Leesburg, VA. He was a former resident of the Hampshire and Mineral County areas. Weasenforth was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the preliminary investigation he was driving southbound on Bloomery Pike when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed the center line and into the path of a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by 54 year old Karen Borror of Paw Paw. After the high impact collision, both vehicles separated, and Weasenforth’s car caught fire. It is believed that Weasenforth died on impact. Borror was taken to a helicopter landing zone  by the Augusta Rescue Squad and then flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, WV. Her condition is unknown at the time of media release. Bloomery Pike was closed for approximately three hours while the investigation was completed.

Assisting deputies on the scene were the WV Natural Resource Police, Augusta & Slanesville Fire Departments, Augusta Rescue Squad, Hampshire County EMS, Hampshire County ALS 101, Morgan County Medical Examiner, and the WV Division of Highways.
