Garrett County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Crash

The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle.  According to the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office on Aug 10th at about 1:47pm deputies were called out to the intersection of Maryland Highway and Broadford Road for a report of a motor vehicle collision. When deputies arrived they learned a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle operated by 59 year old Michael Arbogast of Maysville, WV was traveling eastbound on Maryland Highway approaching Broadford Road. A 2015 Jeep Cherokee driven by 30 year old Saprina Gerard of Keyser, WV was heading southbound on Broadford Road approaching Maryland Highway. A preliminary investigation revealed the Jeep traveled into the intersection and hit the motorcycle. Arbogast was pronounced dead at the scene. Gerard and a juvenile passenger were taken to Garrett Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Maryland Highway was shut down for about 2 hours during the investigation at the scene.
