FPD Arrest Man On Drug Trafficking Charges

A Millersville and Frostburg man is arrested on drug charges. According to Frostburg City Police on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at 1:10 a.m., the Frostburg City Police Department was called to respond to a Paul Street residence for a noise complaint. Upon police arrival, several subjects fled from within the residence while others were still inside.

While investigating at the residence, officers observed suspected marijuana, scales, packaging materials, and a handgun. Officers remained at the scene to secure the residence while another officer returned to police headquarters to prepare a search and seizure warrant.

Officers obtained and executed the search warrant. Upon doing so, police discovered and seized approximately 200 grams of suspected marijuana, over $4,500 in United States currency, over 230 capsules of suspected heroin, and a handgun. These items, as well as other items of evidentiary value, were seized by police.

After further police investigation and consultation with the Allegany County State’s Attorney’s Office, police applied for and obtained an arrest warrant for Obafemi Olukayode Kamson, 21, of Millersville and Frostburg.

On Thursday, February 27, 2020, Frostburg City Police arrested Kamson on the warrant, charging him with possession of a firearm in relation to drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances (CDS), possession of CDS other than marijuana, possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana, and possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

Kamson was taken to a District Court Commissioner where he was ordered held without bond. He was committed to the Allegany County Detention Center. A bail review was held on February 28, 2020, by a District Court Judge, and Kamson was released pending trial.

This investigation and operation was conducted by the officers of the Frostburg City Police Department. A C3I investigator assisted with collecting evidence during the search. The investigation is continuing.

“This was an absolutely terrific job by our police officers, and it really shows what your police department is doing for the Frostburg community every day,” said Commissioner of Public Safety Kevin Grove. “This should serve as a warning to anyone who may be involved in illegal drug trafficking in Frostburg. We not tolerate that sort of activity here,” Grove said.

“This is an example of the type of proactive and diligent policing that your police officers are doing every day and every night,” Chief Nicholas Costello said. “We will follow-up on leads and observations of suspected illegal drug activity, and we will obtain search warrants and make arrests. This is one of many excellent examples of the dedication your police officers have to the well-being of the Frostburg community. I am very proud of the work our officers do every day.” Costello said.
