Cumberland Man Arrested on Three Outstanding Warrants

A Cumberland man is arrested on several charges. According to Cumberland Police on November 11th, 2020, The Cumberland City Police Department arrested 24 year old Daekwon Devin Silas Wingate of Cumberland MD. Wingate was arrested on three outstanding Arrest Warrants for three separate incidents that each occurred on November 9th, 2020. During the first incident, officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Grand Ave for the report of a breaking and entering. The victim at the residence alleged that Wingate kicked in a door of a residence and began demanding drugs from the occupants inside. Wingate then assaulted a female victim in the residence and fled the scene on foot prior to officer’s arrival. For this incident, he was charged with 3rd degree burglary, 4th degree burglary, 2nd degree assault, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace. A short time later, officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Springdale St for the report of an attempted robbery. Once on scene, it was learned that Wingate had also been at this residence. The victim stated they were familiar with Wingate and permitted him enter the home. When the victim was distracted, they alleged Wingate began to search for items inside the home. When the victim attempted to stop him, Wingate began to assault the victim, dragging them through the residence. Wingate again fled the scene on foot. For this incident, Wingate was charged with robbery, 2nd degree assault, and attempted theft. Later in the day, Officers were called to the Emergency Dept. at UPMC Western Maryland for the report of a disturbance. Once on scene, it was learned that Wingate had been transported to the facility for unknown medical reasons. Once at the facility, Wingate became irate with staff and began to cause a disturbance Wingate then assaulted three staff members. For this, he was charged with three counts of 2nd degree assault. Wingate was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was released on a total of $20,000 in unsecured bonds.
