A Cresaptown man is dead following a motorcycle crash in Barton. At about 3:15 Wednesday afternoon Allegany County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Legislative Road in Barton Maryland in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. A 2014 Honda motorcycle operated by 42 year old Thomas Parker Jr. of Cresaptown had been traveling south on Legislative Road when it crossed the center line and struck a 2014 Freightliner in the northbound lane driven by Joseph Wiland of Frostburg. The Barton Fire Department responded to the scene along with an Allegany County paramedic. Thomas Parker Jr. was pronounced dead on the scene. Joseph Wiland was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by Tri-Towns Ambulance to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Division responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. The roadway was closed for approximately 2 ½ hours while units conducted the initial investigation. The incident remains under investigation by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office.
