The cause of a fire in Lonaconing is under investigation. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office the blaze broke out at about 1:13pm on March 3rd in a two story single family home on Old Beechwood Road SW, Lonaconing. 40 firefighters battled the blaze for about an hour. The fire caused about $60,000 in damage. The fire was discovered by the occupants and started in the front interior living room. The occupants were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
