Brownsville Monument Dedication Ceremony To Be Held Today

A monument dedication ceremony will be held today at Frostburg State University to recognize the Brownsville/Park Avenue community that was displaced as the university footprint grew. FSU Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Robin Wynder explains the importance of Brownsville and the impact the community had on the region. Brownsville was an African American community that was established by a formerly enslaved woman after emancipation in 1866.
