WV Fire Marshal Involved in Investigation into Fire at Avalon Resort

The West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze at the Avalon Resort. According to officials with the Slanesville Volunteer Fire Department the cause of the fire was believed to be electrical in nature. A fire marshal was on site on Friday. The fire on New Year’s Even damaged the lodge which included the kitchen, dining hall and 18 lodge rooms that were a total loss. Firefighters were able to save the indoor pool section and casino / bar section.  Firefighters from Hampshire, Morgan, and Mineral Counties in WV, Frederick County in VA, and Allegeny County in MD operated on scene for approximately 4-5 hours. No one was injured in the blaze.
