Training to be Offered For Former Verso Employees

Allegany County officials have some good news for those impacted by the closure of the Verso Luke Mill. According to Allegany County Administrator Brandon Butler union officials alerted county officials to the fact that unemployment insurance benefits were close to running out for many of the former mill employees. Butler says with the thanks to the trade adjustment assistance act if those workers are in a training they would be eligible to continue receive those benefits. He says through the Western Maryland Works maker space and a partnership with Allegany College of Maryland they will be offering that training.
