Jane’s Place, Inc.-A place to tell their story…A place where healing begins. Jane’s Place is both a place and a team of people that helps children ages 0-18 and their families recover from the devastation of child abuse by providing forensically sound interviews, on-site therapy, scheduling for medical examinations, and follow-up services. All of these services are provided free of charge. Jane’s Place, Inc. is named in honor of the late Mrs. Jane Dawson. Mountainside Baroque will be bringing multiple Grammy-winning artist Paul O’Dette to Cumberland. O’Dette is perhaps the most celebrated lute player of his generation, described by the Toronto Globe and Mail as “the clearest case of genius ever to touch his instrument.” He will be the featured soloist on April’s series concert, “A Merry Moode for Two Lutes,” scheduled for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Smallwood at Washington, on Sunday, April 3 at 4 p.m. There will be a pre-concert talk at 3:30 p.m.  The lute itself was the most popular instrument in the 16th and 17th centuries, with nearly 50,000 pieces that have been left to us in the manifold manuscripts and prints from the era. It has had a great resurgence since the middle of the 20th century and several schools offer degrees in the instrument on equal status with modern instruments. Tickets will be available at the door or can be ordered only at the Mountainside Baroque website: www.mountainsidebaroque.org.  For more information call 301-338-2940.
