Senator Mikulski Visits Western Maryland to Announce Federal Funding for Several Projects

U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski continued her Maryland Jobs and College Affordability Tour with stops in Western Maryland this week. Yesterday Mikulski announced Garrett College will receive $110,000 in funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission to be used to expand health career training programs at the Career Technology Training Center in Accident. Mikulski was also on hand to announce the Town of Westernport has been awarded $2.2 million dollars in federal grants and $600,000 in federal loans to install a new water system and water tank to serve more than 1.144 households and 45 businesses in Allegany County. Today Mikulski met with leaders at Allegany College of Maryland and toured the dental training laboratory. She also announced that the ARC has awarded $87,000 to purchase 15 new dental hygiene units for the program. Mikulski says she is committed to helping provide jobs and education for the community.
