A Scherr man is hospitalized after being shot. According to Grant County Sheriff’s Officials on Sept 30th deputies were called out to Laurel Dale Road. Benjamin Smith of Maysville traveled to the home of William Metheney. He allegedly shot Metheney in the stomach and once in the hip with a high powered rifle. Smith then fled the scene and crashed his vehicle into a tree on Ridge Road in Grant County. Smith was arrested a short time later. He was charged with attempted 1st degree murder, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail on $300,000 cash bond. Metheney is being treated at Ruby Memorial Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
