Rawlings Man Arrested on Assault and Burglary Charges

A Rawlings man faces burglary and assault charges after allegedly breaking into a home with a machete. According to Allegany County Sheriff’s officials at about 11pm on Tuesday night deputies were called out to the area of Foundry Row Road in Mt. Savage for a reported assault in progress.Initial dispatch information stated that a subject had broken into a residence and was attempting to assault the occupants with a sword. Additional calls from neighbors stated that there was a fight in the street and that one of the persons had a machete. Deputies learned that 36 year old Daniel Lee Beal of Rawlings had allegedly forced his way into a residence and assaulted two occupants while in possession of a machete. An amount of property damage had also occurred. Beal was arrested and taken before a District Court Commissioner on the following charges:Home Invasion, Burglary 4th Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Assault 2nd Degree, Burglary 3rd Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, Attempted Assault 2nd Degree, Dangerous Weapon-Intent to Injure. Beal was subsequently taken to the Allegany County Detention on a temporary Commitment.
