No Foul Play Suspected in Death Of Cumberland Man

C3I Unit has received the results of the autopsy performed on 21 year old Mickael Allen Thornton Jr by the Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Thornton’s body was recovered from the North Branch of the Potomac River on March 30th , just downstream from the Mason South End Sports Complex. He had been reported missing since March 12th.

Numerous rumors were circulated throughout the community that Thornton’s disappearance was the result of foul play. Through numerous interviews and review of surveillance video, Investigators were able to track his whereabouts throughout most of the evening that he was last seen and went missing. Nothing has been discovered as a result of that investigation to indicate that Thornton was the victim of any type of assault or criminal act.

According to the Medical Examiner, the cause of death was determined to be as a result of cocaine and narcotic intoxication, complicated by drowning. There was no trauma to the body, no defensive wounds, and no indication that he had been assaulted prior to his death. Nothing suspicious was noted.
