Tonight is National Night Out and there will be two events in Allegany County. The third annual NNO event will be held at the Country Club Mall from 5-9pm . Displays and events will be presented by the Maryland State Police, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, as well as from several local volunteer fire and EMS companies. Additionally, displays will be available from the Maryland Child Identification Program (MD CHIP), and the Allegany County Health Department. McGruff the Crime Dog will be on hand, along with Trooper 5 medevac helicopter at 7:30pm. Refreshments will be available, as well as face paintings for the kids, door prizes and much more. A dunk tank will also be available to dunk an officer.. Come out and flush some local Troopers, the Sheriff, and maybe even a County Commissioner. They will have many great door prizes to give away so come into Center Court and get a ticket for your chance to win. They will draw the door prizes at 7:00 and you must be present to win. So please come out and make an evening of it with your family and friends. In Cumberland a NNO event will be held from 5-8pm for Somerville Ave. and First St. (Salvation Army area) sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. Co- Sponsored locally by Cumberland’s Neighborhood Advisory Commission; Residents are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. You will find various sponsors offering music, activities, food, drinks, handouts, education, and lots of giveaways all for free. Police Cruiser and motorcycles, Police K-9, RV Command Center, Fire Engine and Ambulance, Fire Safe House, Dunk Tank, Bounce House, Obstacle Course, Sno-Cones, Popcorn, Hot Dogs, and much more. Artie Conner, guitarist will open the event playing the National Anthem. Magician Dave Iser will also perform.
