A Moorefield woman is charged with embezzling money from a youth basketball league. According to officials with the Moorefield Police Department 54 year old Roxanne George was arrested on March 21st and charged with taking funds from the Moorefield Youth Basketball League. In January a report was filed with the MPD concerning the possible misuse of funds from the League. An investigation revealed the purchase of a large amount of personal items from the league funds. The records were turned over to law enforcement officials following a court order. According to MPD officials about $9,600 was used from league funds for personal use. MPD officials also learned there was a similar investigation after $3,000 was taken from the Grant County Little League in 2000. George was arrested and bond was set at $20,000.
