Five Deer Test Positive for Chronic Wasting Disease in Allegany County

Five white tailed deer harvested in Allegany County have tested positive for chronic wasting disease. According to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources a lab has confirmed the cases. This brings the total number of chronic wasting disease cases in Allegany County to 11. Four of the five deer were harvested in the Chronic Wasting Disease Management area and another was taken near Cumberland making it the first documented case outside of the CWDMA.
