Farmer’s Markets Offer Good Food For Good Health

This week is National Farmer’s Market Week. Dr. Garth Graham, cardiologist and president of the Aetna Foundation says a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables is vital to good health. He says farmer’s markets are a great way to get fresh local produce. He says your zip code is an indicator of your health based on the availability of healthy food options.
If you are looking for fresh local produce there  are several Farmer’s Markets around the region.

In Allegany County:
LaVale Country Club Mall Tuesday: 9:30am – 2pm
South End Cumberland Farmer’s market in the big parking lot at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 400 Arch St. Tuesday August 4 4-6 PM. Independence card accepted.
Western Maryland Health System Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the parking garage across from the Medical Arts Center entrance. Plastic zip lock bags will be provided to employees so that produce may be brought into the facilities.

Downtown Cumberland Thursday: 9:30am – 2pm,
Frostburg Farmers’ Market Friday: 9:30am – 12:30pm,

Canal Place Downtown Cumberland Saturday: 9:30am – 1pm
In Garrett County:
10am to 1 pm Wednesdays and Saturdays Off 2nd St. at Town Park Ln. Downtown Oakland, Maryland
In Hampshire County:
Romney Saturday mornings from 8AM to Noon.
In Mineral County:
Keyser– Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon (Keyser Assembly of God)
Fort Ashby–Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to noon (Fair Grounds)
Piedmont–Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon (Play Ground)
In Bedford County:
Every Wednesday in the Public Square from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
