Cumberland Man Charged with Robbery

A Cumberland man faces charges after allegedly stealing from a business in Frostburg and attempting to rob a woman. According to Cumberland Police on Saturday December 31, 2016, officers served two arrest warrants on 25 year old Bradley Welsh of Cumberland, Maryland.  The first warrant was issued by a private business in Frostburg, Maryland where Welsh was previously employed.  Over a one week period, Welsh was voiding transactions for services rendered and kept the money that was received.  The second warrant served was as a result of a December 18, 2016 Robbery investigation that occurred on Memorial Avenue in Cumberland, Maryland.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Welsh approached the victim and asked for a cigarette.   The victim walked away and a few minutes later heard footsteps and was tackled to the ground by Welsh as he demanded her money.  Welsh grabbed the victim’s phone, threw it and pulled her hair down the street until he was able to get the money from her purse.  Welsh was processed, served and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond review.  He was held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center. He is charged with assault, conspiracy, reckless endangerment, robbery and theft.
