Cumberland Man Arrested on Assault Complaint

A Cumberland man is arrested on a warrant for an assault complaint. According to Cumberland Police Monday, April 6th, 2020 officers served an arrest warrant on 40 year old Nicholas Richard Kennell. The warrant was issued by District Court in reference to an incident that took place at a South Street residence when officers responded for an assault complaint. When officers arrived, they spoke with Kennell who upon contact claimed that he had been infected by the coronavirus. While speaking with Kennell, he leaned in the direction of officers purposely coughed. He was charged with 1st and 2nd degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Kennell had a bond review before the District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held without bond.
