Cumberland Couple Arrested In Connection With Burglaries

Two Cumberland residents are behind bars after being caught attempting to flee a burglary scene. According to Maryland State Police on June 5, 2016 at approximately 10:30 am, Troopers from the Cumberland Barrack and Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of the 11000 block of Bedford Road, Cumberland, Maryland 21502 for a reported burglary in progress.  A witness called the Barrack and reported that a white male and white female were observed breaking and entering into a residence.  The witness observed the subjects flee from the residence and run towards a wooded area.  The two subjects were located by law enforcement as they were attempting to flee the area in a vehicle.  The subjects were identified as 41 year old Megan Leach of Cumberland, and 37 year old Jeremy House of Cumberland, MD.  House and Leach were found in possession of evidence to the crime.  They were placed under arrested and taken before the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s office for an initial bond hearing.  House was held on $35,000 bond and Leach was held on $15,000 bond to the Allegany County Detention Center.  Anyone who has information on any other thefts in this area is asked to please contact the Maryland State Police at 301-729-2101.
