Congressman John Delaney and Senator Ben Cardin Make Stops in Allegany County

Congressman John Delaney and Senator Ben Cardin spent time in Western Maryland yesterday. Both participated in the opening of the new Democratic Central Committee Headquarters in Allegany County. Cardin also participated in a roundtable discussion at the AHEC West location in Downtown Cumberland to discuss improving access to health care. “The key is that they need more health care professionals. Here is the challenge, most graduate from school with large debt and will they get loan forgiveness if they work here in underserved areas because Allegany County and Cumberland have a shortage. We need to look at the federal guidelines to see if we can’t help to get more doctors, nurses and social workers here in Allegany County.” Delaney says when he meets with constituents around the state infrastructure and jobs are always two key topics. “Jobs are always a concern and the thing about jobs is it is easy to say jobs it is harder to actually make them happen. And to make them happen you have to do the nitty gritty work like build infrastructure like think about tax reform the kind of stuff I have done as someone who has spent my whole career in the private sector creating well over one thousand jobs here in Maryland I think I understand how to do that. And I have been working on the key building blocks to create more jobs in Western Maryland since I went into office.” Both Cardin and Delaney also say it is critical for voters to get engaged this election year.
