Cause of Fire in Romney Ruled Accidental

The cause of a fire in Romney is ruled accidental. According to Romney Fire Chief Garrett Parsons crews were called out to the fire on School Street March 7th at about 11pm. The West Virginia Fire Marshal ruled the cause to be improper use of a space heater too close to combustibles. One man suffered 2nd   and 3rd degree burns and was flown via helicopter to John Hopkins Burn Center. Parsons says there were no working smoke detectors present at the time of the fire.
