An investigation is underway after a second stabbing at NBCI. According to MDPSCS officials a 24-year-old inmate was assaulted at North Branch Correctional Institution at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. He was taken to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center with a puncture wound in his chest and is listed in stable condition. The incident happened in the facility yard and investigators are searching for a suspect. The victim is serving a 10-year sentence for attempted 2nd degree murder.
Officials do not believe the incident was related to an assault that took place on Tuesday. No further information was available. Investigators are on the scene probing the incident.
