Allegany County Purchasing A Portion of Mobile Home Park

Allegany County will be purchasing a portion of the Garden City Mobile Home park. According to Allegany County Development Representative David Nedved says 15 trailers are being impacted by the more than seven acres of property being acquired by the county and includes the area across the bridge over Winchester Run. The purchase is expected to be complete by next year. The portion that is being purchase is in a flood plain and is only accessible by vehicle via a small bridge. The money for the relocation of the residents being impacts by the purchase of the property is coming from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) via the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, under the relocation process. According to Nedved the tenants will be given reasonable relocation advisory services including referrals to replacement properties, help in completing required forms and other necessary assistance to help them successfully relocate to another place to live; at least 90 days advance notice in writing of the date before they will be required to move; payment for their moving expenses; and replacement housing assistance which will vary depending on the condition of their mobile home.
