A fire in an elevator room at the Park Place United Methodist Church is ruled accidental. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office the fire broke out at about 10:13 on Sept 19th in the elevator room of the two story church on National Highway in LaVale. 30 firefighters were called to the scene and the fire was out when they arrived. The fire caused about $1,100 in damage. The cause was ruled to be an accidental electrical malfunction within the elevator control panel.
