WVSP Investigating Armed Bank Robbery

West Virginia State Police are investigating an armed bank robbery. On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at approximately 1225pm Cpl. M. M. Massie responded to a 911 call of a bank robbery at the Bank of Romney Augusta branch. Cpl. Massie reviewed the video from the bank and observed an unknown male enter the bank and brandish a silver in color handgun. The suspect demanded money from the tellers. The suspect was wearing a mask, sunglasses, a ball cap, long sleeve hoodie with the hood up, pants, gloves and shoes. The suspect left on foot out of video range. A K-9 was utilized from the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and track was completed to the rear parking lot of Nationwide Insurance next door to the bank. DNR, Hampshire County and Mineral County deputies responded as well. The investigation is ongoing.
