UPMC To Invest 90 Million into UPMC Western MD Over Next 5 Years

Over the next five years 90 million dollars will be invested into UPMC Western Maryland. UPMC Senior Vice President and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of UPMC Health Services Leslie Davis made the announcement during an integration celebration held this afternoon at UPMC Western Maryland. She says those investments will include strengthening the projects and programs that had been offered at the Western Maryland Health System. Davis says the goal is to make sure the new UPMC Western Maryland can thrive for the next 100 years and provide the best care to each and every patient.

UPMC Western Maryland President Barry Ronan says being able to have the expertise that UPMC brings to the community will be an incredible benefit for the region.

According to UPMC Western Maryland officials in March 2019, the Boards of Directors of both WMHS and UPMC signed a non-binding letter of intent to negotiate an affiliation agreement. Following a nine-month regulatory review and due diligence process by WMHS and UPMC, the Boards co-signed a binding integration and affiliation agreement on January 15, 2020, setting February 1, as the target date for finalizing the affiliation.
