Two Men Face Drug Charges

Two men face a variety of drug charges after an investigation by the Allegany County Narcotircs Task Force. According to the NTF on February 23, 2021, members of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, with the assistance of the Cumberland City Police Department, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack, executed a search and seizure warrant in the 1200 block of National Highway, Lavale, MD.

Members of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force were investigating the distribution and sales of fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Allegany County area. During the subsequent search, Allegany County Narcotics Task Force investigators located large amounts of fentanyl, methamphetamine and CDS packing materials.

As a result of the search, 28 year old Shawn Brooks Spiker of Lonaconing, was charged with the following:

– Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl

– Possession of Fentanyl

– Possession Large Amount, Fentanyl

– Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine

– Possession of Methamphetamine

32 year old Andrew Patrick Russell of Cumberland, was charged with the following:

– Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl

– Possession of Fentanyl

– Possession Large Amount, Fentanyl

– Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine

– Possession of Methamphetamine

Both Spiker and Russell were taken to a District Court Commissioner where they were held without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
