Peaceful Protests Continue Across Western MD and Potomac Highlands WV

As protests continue around the country following the death of George Floyd  locally Peaceful protests were held in Oakland and  in Frostburg and Keyser.

6th District Congressman David Trone says he supports the protests, “Of course we have got to get a system that addresses the underlying racism and the behavior and the acts in the death of Mr. Floyd is absolutely unacceptable and we have to learn from that and figure out how we are going to change our system and change the underlying problems in the system. We have to root out the racism. I think it is really important to get out and be heard everybody together and respectful. I think was happened to Mr. Floyd is a crime and it should be prosecuted. It is also a crime others sit there and watch and that needs to be prosecuted.”

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey says he condems the violence, “It’s such a very difficult time. First of all we have to condemn the actions of what happened that lead to the death of George Floyd. It is just gut wrenching seeing that video. We have to condemn violence and we have to condemn racism and any abuse of our civil rights.”
