Continued improvements are on the horizon for the Allegany County Fairgrounds thank to Delfest. Sunday Del McCoury and his family along with members of RainMaker Music presented the five year improvement plan to local officials during an event at Mezzos. The plans include additional RV hookups and upgrades to the trail access to the Potomac River. The annual family friendly bluegrass music festival brings visitors from around the globe to Allegany County on Memorial Day weekend. The week leading up to the festival includes the Delfest Academy where musicians of all ages can learn from the best in the industry. Over the years several improvements to the camping areas and bath houses have been made to the Fairgrounds thanks to Delfest. Those improvements benefit all the events held at the Fairgrounds throughout the year. And since Delfest began in 2008 hundreds of thousands of dollars have been collected through the Delfest Foundation and given to nonprofit groups and organizations around the region.
