Friendsville Man Pleads To Sex Offense Charges

A Friendsville man pleads guilty to third degree sexual offense charges. According to Garrett County State’s Attorney Lisa Thayer Welch, 21 year old Oscar Glenn Giron, pled guilty in the Circuit Court to a third degree sexual offense.  Related charges were dismissed upon his plea.  Judge ray Strubin then sentenced Giron to one year in the Garrett County Detention Center and suspended all but 164 days he had already served. Giron is on probation, with conditions that include having no contact with the victim and paying fines and costs totaling $645.

Giron was charged by Maryland State Police who received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Facebook had reported what appeared to be conversations between an adult male and underage female about sexual activity.  Investigation led to persons in Garrett County and a determination that Giron had inappropriate contact with an underage female in January through March ofof last year.
