Four Face Charges In Connection With Vandalism Incident at Fort Hill High School

Four people face charges in connection with a vandalism incident at Fort Hill High School. According to Cumberland Police on 7/19/2021 officers were dispatched to Fort Hill High School in reference to a breaking and entering which occurred on 7/17/2021. Upon arrival officers observed that someone had spray painted the walls, thrown trash around the school, and stole property belonging to the school. Security footage was reviewed and officers observed four individuals that were responsible for the acts. A social media post was distributed asking for the public’s assistance. After several leads and further investigations officers identified 23 year old Steven Michael Merriman of Cumberland, 18 year old Asha Marie Bayne of Pasadena, MD, 19 year old Jacob David Lindsey of Cumberland, and a juvenile as the suspects. An application for charges was submitted to the District Court Commissioner and Criminal Summons were issued. On 7/25/2021 officers served Criminal Summons on Merriman, Bayne, and Lindsey. They signed for their copies of the Criminal Summons and are pending trial in District Court.

The charges include : Trespass on School Grounds, Trespass on School Grounds to Damage Property, Burglary 4th Degree, Malicious Destruction of Property, Theft Less than $100.00, and Contribute to Conditions of a Child
