Daily COVID-19 Update

The Allegany County Health Department will hold a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Willowbrook Office Complex (WOC) in the ground floor Community Room (12501 Willowbrook Road, Cumberland) on Tuesday, June 8th from 1 to 6 p.m. This clinic is open to those ages 12 and older and will offer the Pfizer COVID vaccine. No appointment is necessary, but adolescents ages 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

On Tuesday, June 15th, the health department will hold a walk-in clinic offering the Moderna COVID vaccine to those ages 18 and older. That clinic will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Community Room of the WOC building.

In Allegany County, 25,566 residents have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19 (36.3% of the population), with 22,526 of those individuals now fully vaccinated with their second dose (32.0% of the population). The number of residents who have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine is 2,690 (3.8%).

By comparison, the state reported that 53.9% of all Marylanders had received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine, with 45.1% having had both doses and 4.0% vaccinated with the single-dose vaccine.

Allegany County COVID-19 Case Statistics as of June 3:

• New COVID Cases: 5 (cumulative total 7,013)

• Additional Deaths: 0 (cumulative total 211)

• Cases Per 100,000 Population: 3.65 (Maryland: 2.35)

• Positivity Rate: 3.6% (Maryland: 1.37%)

Weekly COVID Update: For the week of May 31- June 4, 2021, ACPS reports one case of COVID-19 in a staff member, and three cases of COVID-19 in students who were within an Allegany County Public School. These individuals will complete the required isolation period before returning to their school buildings. Close contacts at school were identified in two of the cases. Those identified close contacts will complete a ten-day quarantine before returning to the school building. Parents were notified through the ACPS Blackboard notification system if there was a positive case in their child’s school building, or on their child’s bus.

ACPS had five staff members who were reported as quarantined this week due to either a close contact with a positive person or COVID-19 symptoms. ACPS had 61 students who were reported as quarantined this week due to either a close contact with a positive person or COVID-19 symptoms.
