Daily COVID-19 Update

This Thursday, May 13, a walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds multipurpose building from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Both the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccines will be offered. Another walk-in clinic, also at the fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m., is slated for Thursday, May 20. Additional clinics will be announced as they are scheduled.

The Allegany County Health Department reports that 23,209 Allegany County residents have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine against COVID-19 (33.0% of the population), with 18,866 of those individuals now fully vaccinated with their second dose (26.8 % of the population). The number of residents who have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine is 2,247 (3.2 %).

By comparison, the state reported that 47.9% of all Marylanders had received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine, with 35.7% having had both doses and 3.4% vaccinated with the single-dose vaccine.

A Community Walk-In Covid 19 Vaccination Clinic will be held at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish Office Center located at 300 East Oldtown Road on Tuesday, May 11th at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. You do not need an appointment to get the vaccine. The vaccines will be given by qualified staff of PharmaCare Pharmacy

Free Community Testing will be held at the Viking Field Parking Lot Tuesday May 11, 2021 11 am- 5 pm

There was One (1) New Positive case reported in Grant County. This person is a contact from a recent school Outbreak. Fortunately, this student was still quarantined, and did not expose others before becoming symptomatic. The infectious period is up to 48 hours before symptoms are exhibited.

Hampshire High School students will continue remote education today Tuesday, May 11, due to continuing COVID-19 cases requiring contract tracing. Romney Middle School students will return to in person instruction on Tuesday.

According to the West Virginia Department of Education website there were 3 COVID-19 cases reported at East Hardy Early Middle School on May 7th

The Hardy County Health Department and Hardy County Office of Emergency Management has six additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Hardy County, making 25 active cases, with a total confirmed case count of 1,592. We have had 22 confirmed COVID-19 deaths. We currently have 24 patients in quarantine at home, following proper protocol to protect their neighbors and community. One patient is currently hospitalized due to severe symptoms of COVID-19. Due to privacy, additional information regarding the persons, area of residence, and travel history will not be disclosed. The Hardy County Health Department has completed the necessary contact tracing to ensure the safety of close contacts and to prevent additional transmission. Hardy County now has 1,545 individuals recovered, included in the total confirmed case count of 1,592.
