Cumberland Man Arrested on Drug and Firearms Charges

A Cumberland man is arrested on drug charges. According to the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office last night deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Cumberland City Police Emergency Response Team executed a search and seizure warrant in the 12000 block of Williams Road.

After receiving numerous complaints about suspected drug trafficking in this area, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force began a surveillance and intelligence gathering operation. After several weeks of intelligence gathering a search warrant was applied for, received and executed.

Upon executing the search warrant, a quantity of heroin packaged for resale and numerous firearms and ammunition were located and seized. The resident, 40 year old Herbert Allen Williams Jr. was arrested and charged with the following.

CDS Possess with intent to distribute-Narcotics  

CDS Possession not marijuana  

Firearm – use felonious crime

Rifle/Shotgun possession with felony conviction

Rifle/Shotgun possession – Disqualification

Firearm – Possession with felony conviction

Illegal Possession ammunition

Regulated Firearm – Illegal possession

Firearm drug traffic crime

CDS: Distribution w/firearm

Williams was held at the Allegany County Detention pending a bond hearing.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges and arrests are expected.
