Cumberland Man Arrested After Allegedly Making Arson Threat

A Cumberland man faces charges of reckless endangerment and threat of arson. According to Cumberland Police on Monday, February 10th, 2020 the officers served an arrest warrant on 33 year old Michael Thomas Shipley Jr. for reckless endangerment and threat of arson. The warrant was issued by Allegany District Court for an incident that occurred earlier today where Shipley is alleged to have poured gasoline on a porch at a Springdale Street residence and made harassing text threatening to burn it down. The investigation was conducted by Fire Marshals from the Cumberland Fire Department and the State of Maryland. He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a bond review before the District Court Commissioner.
