COVID-19 Daily Update

The Allegany County Health Department reports that, to date, 9,293 Allegany County residents (13.2% of the county population) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine with 5,061 (7.2%) having received both doses. Comparatively, the Maryland Department of Health reports that 12.2% of all Marylanders have received their first vaccine dose, and 5.8% have received both doses.

ACHD reports 11 new COVID cases, bringing the county’s cumulative case count to 6,393. One additional death was recorded, bringing the cumulative number of COVID fatalities to 197 for Allegany County. The current case rate in Allegany County is 5.48 cases per 100,000 population, less than half of the state average of 12.43 cases per 100,000 population. Allegany’s positivity rate is now at 2.29% while the statewide average is 3.91%.

COVID-19 Testing is available in Grant County Tuesday, February 23 from 11 am – 5 pm at the VIKING MEMORIAL FIELD PARKING LOT.

If you received your first dose of vaccine at the Grant County Health Department, you will be contacted with an appointment time as soon as we have confirmation that the vaccine has been delivered.

The Hampshire County Health Department received 5 confirmed COVID-19 cases today. Case investigation and contact tracing are ongoing.

Hampshire County’s current case count is 1,539 confirmed (PCR and Rapid test combined), 25 active, 28 deaths and 3 hospitalizations.

The Hardy County Health Department and Hardy County Office of Emergency Management has five additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Hardy County, making 26 active cases, with a total confirmed case count of 1,317. We have had 22 confirmed COVID-19 deaths. We currently have 17 patients in quarantine at home, following proper protocol to protect their neighbors and community. Nine patients are currently hospitalized due to severe symptoms of COVID-19. Due to privacy, additional information regarding the persons, area of residence, and travel history will not be disclosed. The Hardy County Health Department has completed the necessary contact tracing to ensure the safety of close contacts and to prevent additional transmission. Hardy County now has 1,269 individuals recovered, included in the total confirmed case count of 1,317.

                In Mineral County there are a total of 2424 positive cases overall since the pandemic began with 52 active cases, 0 probable, 2336 have recovered and there are a total of 75 deaths.

Please bring your ID with you to the clinic for proof of age and residency. ALL APPOINTMENTS ARE CURRENTLY FULL. County residents interested in receiving the vaccine should submit a Vaccine Interest Form.
