The Allegany County Health Department reports that, to date, 9,293 Allegany County residents (13.2% of the county population) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine with 5,061 (7.2%) having received both doses. Comparatively, the Maryland Department of Health reports that 12.2% of all Marylanders have received their first vaccine dose, and 5.8% have received both doses.
ACHD reports 11 new COVID cases, bringing the county’s cumulative case count to 6,393. One additional death was recorded, bringing the cumulative number of COVID fatalities to 197 for Allegany County. The current case rate in Allegany County is 5.48 cases per 100,000 population, less than half of the state average of 12.43 cases per 100,000 population. Allegany’s positivity rate is now at 2.29% while the statewide average is 3.91%.

The Hardy County Health Department and Hardy County Office of Emergency Management has five additional confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Hardy County, making 26 active cases, with a total confirmed case count of 1,317. We have had 22 confirmed COVID-19 deaths. We currently have 17 patients in quarantine at home, following proper protocol to protect their neighbors and community. Nine patients are currently hospitalized due to severe symptoms of COVID-19. Due to privacy, additional information regarding the persons, area of residence, and travel history will not be disclosed.
