Cause of Scrapyard Fire Ruled Accidental

The cause of a fire at Allegany Scrapyard is ruled accidental. According to the Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office the fire broke out at about 1:36pm Oct 13th at the scrapyard on Day Road in Allegany County. The cause of the blaze was due to a bale of metal containing gasoline and fumes in a crusher. The fire was discovered by an employee. 40 firefighters were called to the scene and had the fire under control in about 10 minutes. One firefighter suffered a non life threatening injury. The fire caused about $20,000 in damage.
