Cause of Oldtown Fire Under Investigation

The cause of a house fire in Oldtown is under investigation. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office the blaze broke out in the ceiling area of a porch of a one story single family home on Green Ridge Rd in Oldown at about 2:50pm on June 25th. 30 firefighters were called to the scene and battled the blaze for about 50 minutes. One firefighter sustained a minor injury at the scene. The fire caused about $75,000 in damage. According to the Fire Marshal’s Office investigators are not ruling out a lightning strike as a potential cause.
