ACSO Investigating Fatal Crash

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash. On Thursday, July 15th, 2021 at approximately 1:30p.m. a motor vehicle collision in the area of Rt. 36, Westernport, MD was reported to the Allegany County Joint Communications Center. Several units from numerous volunteer fire and rescue departments, the Department of Emergency Services, and the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Upon arrival units found the operator of a south bound pick up truck, 60 year old Brian E. Billmyre of Piedmont, WV deceased, and the operator of a north bound bus heavily entrapped inside the vehicle.

Fire and Rescue units worked for approximately 30 minutes before extricating the patient who was identified as 57 year old Anthony Robert Moses of Lonaconing, MD. Moses was transported from the scene by Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 5 to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Rt. 36 remained closed for approximately 4 hours while the Sheriff’s Office, and Cumberland City Police Crash Teams investigated.

The following agencies responded to the scene, Maryland Department of Transportation, Maryland State Police Aviation, Barton, Tri-Towns, and Lonaconing Fire Departments, Ambulances from Tri-Towns, Allegany County D.E.S, , and Keyser. Potomac Volunteer Fire Department was also alerted and on the scene of the incident.
