PA Man Charged with Solicitation of Rape

A preliminary hearing is set for today for a Meyersdale man faces charges of solicitation of rape and reckless endangerment of another person. According to Pennsylvania State Police 69 year old Roger Dale Wahl was arrested in September after it was determined he solicited male strangers to rape his female friend. Wahl allegedly fabricated an online dating profile and portrayed the victim. According to Pennsylvania State Police the incident originated and was facilitated through the WQZS 93.3 FM radio station in Meyerdale in Somerset County. Wahl allegedly communicated with several men claiming to the victim on the dating site and provided the men with the victim’s address and according to the report from Pennsylvania State Police he requested they have sex with her. He also sent several men nude photos of the victim which he had allegedly obtained without permission by hiding a trail camera in the victim’s bathroom several years ago. One of the men from the dating site actually traveled to the victim’s address but was met instead by Wahl. It was determined Wahl had solicited several men. The victim was unaware of the activities and had no involvement in the scheme. Wahl also allegedly tampered with evidence and deleted nude photos of the victim from his phone along with communications from the dating profile after he discovered law enforcement officials had spoken with the victim. Wahl faces a variety of charges including rape solicitation, identity theft, criminal use of a communications facility, invasion of privacy, reckless endangerment of another person and unlawful dissemination of an intimate image.
